Report of "Symposium, exhibition & presentation on Long-term care technology of Japan"

On December 5, 2024, “Symposium, exhibition & presentation on Long-term care technology of Japan” was held at Kudan Kaikan Terrace Conference & Banquet Hall. A total of 71 people attended this symposium, including those from embassies in Tokyo.
This symposium introduced Japan's cutting-edge long-term care technology through keynote speeches by the Program Supervisor (PS) and Program Officer (PO) of Project to Promote the Development of Long-term Care Robots, panel discussions, and presentations by Japan's leading long-term care robotics developers. And it introduced the types, functions and use-case in Japan and abroad of Japanese long-term care robots.
Simultaneous interpretation from Japanese to English was provided for the lectures, making it possible for English-speakers to attend.
In addition, at the venue, there was an exhibition of long-term care robots and opportunities for interaction and networking with developers and participants.

Keynote speech
Prof. Yukio Honda gave a keynote speech entitled “Japan's Robotic Revolution: Empowering the Super-Aging Society” in which he discussed prospects for long-term care technology in Japan.
Prof. Tomohiro Shibata gave a keynote speech, “From Japan to the World: Dissemination of Care Robot Innovations and Strategies,” in which he discussed the dissemination of Japanese long-term care technology to the rest of the world.

Panel discussion
A panel discussion was held by Dr. Yasuyoshi Ouchi, Prof. Yuji Higashi, Prof. Yukio Honda, Prof. Taketoshi Mori, and Mr. Takashi Miyamoto on the potential of Japanese nursing technology for overseas deployment. During the panel discussion, the panelists discussed the benefits of introducing long-term care technology and the social impact of promoting its introduction, both domestically and internationally.

Presentations from long-term care robot developers
Presentations were given by developers of long-term care technology that AMED has supported in the past, including RT. Works Inc., DFree Inc., FUJI Inc., Konica Minolta Inc., Muscle Inc., and CYBERDYNE Inc..

Networking event
A social event was held for all attendees. There were also exhibits by developers of long-term care technology who gave presentations on their technology.
