The purpose of this proposed equipment is to monitor the elderly in nursing care facilities, aiming at automatically detecting bed leaving and preventing accidents such as falling. Bed leaving detection is judged from the reaction direction and retention time of a reflective infrared sensor arranged in two dimensions, and for improving the performance, we have been forging ahead with its development while changing to the detection method using an image recognition technology. For the new method development, we implemented a prototype development with monitoring support equipment (home care type), and have currently been pressing ahead with performance improvements, and consideration for commercialization.
