The development of “care technology” to address the shortage of care workers is now one of the government’s top priorities. To accelerate the development of products that meet the needs of the field, the government has established generous, open-call grant programs and support initiatives tailored to each phase—from research and development through demonstration to societal implementation.
A key pillar of this support is development grants such as the “Project to Build Evidence for the Social Implementation of Care Technologies,” administered by AMED (Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development).Based on the “Priority Areas for the Use of Care Technologies” designated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW), this project provides funding of up to tens of millions of yen per project annually in some cases, providing strong support for prototype development and the collection of real-world evidence. In addition to financial support, the program also offers hands-on assistance, such as expert advice.
This website brings together a comprehensive range of information, from the fundamentals of development to specific calls for proposals and explanations of key areas for the use of care technology that can serve as development tips. We encourage you to use this site as a guide for development and commercialization, with the goal of realizing a society where technology further enriches the lives of everyone involved in long-term care.
