AMED (Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development) is a national research and development organization established in April 2015 that plays a central role in medical research and development and in fostering the necessary environment for such activities. It undertakes various initiatives to comprehensively and effectively promote integrated medical research and development—from basic research through to practical application—and to facilitate the smooth commercialization of research outcomes, while also working to improve the research and development environment.
