On December 5, 2024, we held the “Symposium on the Global Expansion of Care Technology” at the Kudan Kaikan Terrace. A total of 71 people attended the symposium, including representatives from embassies in Tokyo.
Through keynote speeches and panel discussions led by experts—including Program Supervisors (PS) and Program Officers (PO) from the Project to Promote the Development of Robotic Care Equipment—as well as presentations by developers, we introduced Japan’s cutting-edge care technology, insights and know-how for overseas expansion, and examples of its application both domestically and internationally.
Simultaneous interpretation from Japanese to English was provided for each presentation
, creating an environment where international attendees could also follow along.
Additionally, the venue featured an exhibition of actual robotic care devices, as well as opportunities for networking and interaction between developers and symposium participants.

Keynote Speech
In his keynote speech titled “Japan’s Robot Revolution: Realizing a Vibrant Super-Aged Society,” Yukio Honda (Special Researcher at the Center for Artificial Object Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo; Project Officer for the AMED Project to Promote the Development of Robotic Care Equipment) shared his vision for care services utilizing robotic care technology in Japan.

In his keynote speech titled “From Japan to the World: Innovation and Dissemination Strategies for Care Robots,” delivered by Tomohiro Shibata (Professor, Graduate School of Bioengineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology; Advisor to the Care Robot Portal Site under AMED’s Project to Promote the Development of Care Robots and Related Technologies), he spoke about how Japan is promoting its care robots to the world.
Panel discussion featuring experts
We hosted a panel discussion featuring Mr. Yoshiji Ouchi, Mr. Yuji Higashi, Mr. Yukio Honda, Mr. Takatoshi Mori, and Mr. Takashi Miyamoto to explore the potential for the global expansion of Japanese care technology.
