A symposium titled “Symposium on Human Resource Development for the Utilization of Care Robots” was held.
*This symposium is also designated as the “12th Partnership Meeting” under the “FY2018 Robot Care Equipment Development and Standardization Project.”
[Purpose of the Event]
The new curriculum for certified care worker training programs, revised in fiscal year 2017, includes content on understanding the significance and objectives of utilizing assistive devices—including care robots—reflecting the growing focus on care robots in educational settings.
Consequently, this symposium was organized with the aim of raising awareness of the new curriculum not only among certified care worker training institutions but also among care robot manufacturers, while also providing practical examples of care robot implementation that can be utilized in lectures and other educational activities at training institutions.
The symposium will feature: (1) presentations on case studies of care robot implementation at training institutions; (2) presentations by manufacturers on their development concepts and background; (3) a panel discussion among manufacturers, training institutions, and care facilities regarding the future of the care sector and the educational curriculum needed to realize it; and (4) hands-on sessions with care robots.
Through these activities, we hope to further stimulate dialogue between care and educational settings with specific needs and robot manufacturers possessing the necessary technologies, thereby contributing to the wider adoption and dissemination of care robots.
