Research and Development of Wearable HAL for Maintaining and Improving Walking Function in the Elderly

HAL® Waist Type for Caregiving Support reduces the load on the lower back during caregiving tasks like transfer assistance, thereby lowering the risk of back pain. It enables easier caregiving while maintaining the same level of support, benefiting both the person being supported and the caregiver.

Product Features

We analyzed and simulated the physical demands of tasks like transferring patients from bed to wheelchair and repositioning them from a medical and anatomical perspective, achieving a design that significantly reduces lumbar strain. With just two
buttons to set the assist level, anyone can use it easily.
Its battery-powered operation allows unrestricted use in various settings, including bathing assistance.

Technical Features

By reading the bioelectric signals sent from the brain to the muscles when a person moves, HAL enables movements according to the wearer's intent. This means HAL freely assists the wearer's movements, making caregiving tasks easier than ever before.
The battery is replaceable, and the compact, lightweight model (approximately 3 kg) allows female caregivers to wear it comfortably for extended periods.
