Multimodal Monitoring Platform

　This proposed device is designed to monitor elderly residents in nursing facilities; its purpose is to automatically detect when a resident gets out of bed and prevent accidents such as falls before they occur.Currently, bed exit detection is determined based on the direction of response and the duration of activation of two-dimensionally arranged reflective infrared sensors; however, to improve performance, we are developing a new detection method that utilizes image recognition technology. Prototype development of this new method is underway for a monitoring support device (home care type), and we are currently continuing our efforts to enhance performance and explore commercialization.
