[Development Discontinued] Transfer Care Assist
This robot assists with transfers by supporting the care recipient’s torso and lifting them in a manner similar to the manual lifting technique typically performed by caregivers. It does not compress the armpits, where important blood vessels and nerves are located, and can lift even care recipients who lack lower-body support. It can be applied to a wider range of users than assistive devices that require lower-body support, such as those for the knees. Furthermore, by supporting the care recipient’s torso from the side, it helps maintain their seated position.Because the care recipient can sit stably on the toilet, those who were previously forced to use the restroom while being assisted in a seated position can now use the restroom independently. This helps protect the care recipient’s dignity and privacy and contributes to reducing the embarrassment associated with receiving assistance.
