AMED Project to Promote the Development of Robotic Care Equipment (Infrastructure Development): "Thorough Utilization of Guidance Manuals and Other Resources to Accelerate Development: Practical Application" (Webex Webinar)

Purpose of the Event

At the second seminar, we will invite representatives from companies that are actively utilizing the guidelines and manuals developed through robot-assisted care equipment initiatives up to last fiscal year to present case studies of their practical applications.

At the first seminar held recently, we received a presentation on “Future Directions for Robot-Assisted Care Equipment Initiatives” from the Medical and Welfare Equipment Industry Office, Healthcare Industry Division, Commerce and Services Group, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.Additionally, the Healthcare R&D Division of the Medical Devices and Healthcare Business Unit at the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) provided an overview of “Projects Related to the Development of Robotic Care Equipment.” We believe that through these presentations, participants gained a renewed understanding of the necessity of utilizing robot technology in the care sector and the initiatives being taken to promote its adoption.

In addition, during the first seminar, we reviewed the guidelines and manuals developed through robot-assisted care equipment-related projects up to last fiscal year, highlighting particularly important points within the manuals and key information that developers should be aware of. Furthermore, using the “Safety Handbook for the Development of Robot-Assisted Care Equipment” as a key reference, we provided an opportunity to consider the essential safety aspects of robot-assisted care equipment development.

For this second seminar, we have invited companies engaged in the development of robotic care devices to participate in a panel discussion on practical examples of how to utilize these guidelines and manuals. We also plan to set aside time during the panel discussion to answer questions submitted by attendees via an online chat function. Through real-world examples of how companies utilize these manuals—including specific scenarios, methods, and outcomes—we hope you will reaffirm opportunities for applying them to your own device development and gain a clearer vision of how they can be utilized within your organization.

Finally, through these outreach and awareness-raising activities, the secretariat aims to foster the robot-assisted care equipment industry and build a “robot-assisted care equipment industry ecosystem.” The industry ecosystem referred to here is a state in which players involved in robot-assisted care equipment—including developers, care facilities, individual users, new entrants to the care sector, and local governments—come together to form a community capable of self-sustaining information sharing, matchmaking, consultation, human resource development, and recruitment within that community. We believe that the formation of this robot care equipment industry ecosystem will stimulate the exchange of information and the alignment of needs between developers and users of robot care equipment, leading to accelerated development and adoption in the future. We look forward to the participation of many individuals and organizations, including the companies participating in the partnership meeting.
